Rakul Preet Singh Says IT Search Was Not About Her, Seeks Retractions

Rakul Preet Singh has hit back at reports that tied her name to the recent Income Tax searches. In a long post on social media on October 5, 2026, the actress called the claims false and said they went out without anyone checking the facts. Her message was direct: "The IT search was not pertaining to me."

The actress, who is reportedly part of Ramayana, also spoke about her own journey. She said she comes from an Armed Forces background, had no godfather in the film industry, and got where she is through sheer hard work. As a law abiding citizen, she added, she has paid her taxes since she was 20.

Rakul then answered the allegations one by one. She denied any role in illegal foreign remittances, either in her own name or for any production house. She also said she does not hold benami property for anyone, in India or abroad. In her post, she said nobody has ever gifted her property and that, as a principle, she does not accept such expensive gifts.

She asked everyone who carried what she called "false, malicious and speculative reports" to take them back and set the record straight. Rakul said she understands that every media business has commercial pressures, but that this cannot come at the cost of facts, or of a person's reputation and livelihood. She also called out a growing habit among some online reporters and mainstream journalists of sensationalising news without checking it first.

Telugu audiences know Rakul well from her Tollywood run, where she has worked with stars such as Mahesh Babu, Jr NTR and Allu Arjun. With this statement, she has put her side firmly on record and made it clear that she wants the reports corrected.
