Jason Sanjay wants to bring out Vijay's playful side if he ever directs him

Jason Sanjay is getting ready for his first film as a director, and he has already picked the side of his father Vijay he would love to capture on camera. If he ever gets the chance to direct the star, he says he would look past the heroic image and focus on the actor's sense of humour.

Jason explained that he has always enjoyed watching Vijay in lighter moments. Growing up, he saw that fun and personal side of his father at home, and he describes that humour as the childlike nature Vijay still carries. In his view, Vijay slowly stopped getting roles where he could play a fully fun, relatable character, as his recent films have leaned towards action and larger than life heroism. Jason said he would like to bring that quality back to the screen.

The young filmmaker also spoke about the advice he got from his grandfather, director SA Chandrasekhar, before starting out. The lesson was simple: never let anyone on set see your doubts or second thoughts. Jason also credited his father and grandfather for showing him the value of hard work.

With Vijay now serving as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Jason spoke about the attention that comes with being his son. He said he tries to keep away from the outside talk and wants to protect the family's reputation by being careful in his personal life. "I do have certain limitations," he said, adding that he wants his work to speak for him.

His debut, Sigma, is a heist film starring Sundeep Kishan and Faria Abdullah, and it is set to hit screens on October 2. Reports say the story follows Guru, a treasure hunter and radio host who takes on a Rs 500 crore racket after a betrayal. Sampath Raj, Shiv Panditt and Yog Japee reportedly play key roles, with music by Thaman S. The film is reportedly produced by Lyca Productions and was earlier planned for a July release before it was pushed.
