Jailer 2 overseas pre-sales trail far behind Rajinikanth's Coolie

Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 is off to a slow start at the ticket counters. Its overseas advance bookings are running well behind his previous release, Coolie.

The sequel has crossed the $1 million mark in overseas pre-sales. That is still less than half of what Coolie had at the same stage. Reports say Jailer 2 stands at $1.62 million five days before release, against $3.78 million for Coolie.

Back home, bookings have opened in many centres, but demand there is also moving slowly.

Some social media users have blamed the promotions. They say weak promotional material and poor planning by Sun Pictures have taken the edge off the hype for the film.

Nelson Dilipkumar directs Jailer 2, and Sun Pictures produces it. The film opens in theatres on October 15.
