Jailer 2 crosses Rs 11 crore in overseas advance bookings ahead of release

Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 has pulled in more than Rs 11 crore from overseas advance bookings, reports say, with a week still left before the film reaches theatres on October 15.

Fans abroad moved fast. Several opening-day shows in the United States and Malaysia sold quickly, and bookings in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala are also drawing interest. The makers have not confirmed the total yet. The number covers only tickets sold in advance, not the film's final overseas collection.

Nelson Dilipkumar directs again, with Rajinikanth back as Muthuvel Pandian, the retired jailer, and Anirudh Ravichander on music. The sequel also brings together Mohanlal, Shivarajkumar, Ramya Krishnan, Vidya Balan, SJ Suryah, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Vijay Sethupathi.

The first Jailer was a blockbuster, so the sequel's opening at the Tamil Nadu box office will be watched closely.
