Jailer 2 lines up 6 AM shows in Kerala ahead of its October 15 release

Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 is set for a wide opening in Kerala. Single screens in the state will be able to start shows as early as 6 AM on release day.

Kerala box office tracker AB George said theatres could run as many as six shows a day, including late-night slots. He added that advance booking is expected to open on Sunday at 10 AM. Reports say distributors are aiming for more than 4,000 shows across the state on day one.

Nelson directs the sequel to the 2023 hit Jailer, and it is slated for October 15, ahead of the Dussehra weekend. It is a Tamil film, but it will also reach theatres dubbed in Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada.

Censor work is complete. The CBFC has given Jailer 2 a UA 16+ certificate with a runtime of 165 minutes and 18 seconds, about three minutes shorter than the first film.

Sun Pictures released the trailer on October 5. It brings Rajinikanth back as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian and pits him against a larger group of new characters. Fans gave it a warm welcome.

Astrologer Prashanth Kini has also weighed in. Replying to a fan on X, he predicted the film will be a blockbuster.
