Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 has held firm on its second day. Trade estimates put its worldwide gross past Rs 200 crore after just two days in theatres.

The India collection for Friday is expected to top Rs 40 crore, around 40 per cent below the opening day. Overseas markets are tracking above USD 4 million for the day, which pushes the worldwide day two figure beyond Rs 75 crore.

Tamil Nadu was the weak spot on day one but recovered well, with its drop staying under 30 per cent. The Telugu and Hindi dubbed versions also held steady. Karnataka and Kerala kept up the pace after big openings.

Advance bookings point to about Rs 100 crore worldwide on both Saturday and Sunday. If that happens, the four-day extended weekend could reach Rs 400 crore. Dussehra and Puja holidays fall on Monday and Tuesday, so the six-day total could get close to Rs 500 crore. All of these numbers are trade estimates, not final collections.

Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the film continues the story of the 2023 hit Jailer, with Rajinikanth back as former jailer Muthuvel Pandian. Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa and Rithvik return, joined by Vidya Balan, S. J. Suryah, Vijay Sethupathi and others. Mohanlal, Hrithik Roshan and Shiva Rajkumar appear in cameos.

Bollywood actor Riteish Deshmukh was one of the fans cheering in the hall. He watched the film in theatres, called it a blockbuster on X and wrote that he "clapped, whistled and cheered at every entry". At the interval he had already praised Rajinikanth's aura and told Nelson and the team to "take a bow".
