Catherine Tresa asks people to stop labelling actresses at Karikaala pooja

Catherine Tresa wants people to stop putting actresses into boxes. The actor made the request while speaking at the pooja press meet of her new film, Karikaala.

She took aim at an old habit: judging a heroine by whether her character ends up with the hero. Is a heroine only a success if the romance works out? Catherine does not think so. She said actresses should be seen for what they bring to a role, not filed under a label.

Her comments put the spotlight on how tags shape the way female characters are received. Every role is different, and a character can carry weight in a story without following the usual romantic track.

For the ceremony itself, Catherine chose a traditional look. Candid pictures from the pooja show her in a deep maroon saree with a soft V-neck blouse, gold jhumka earrings, a small bindi and wavy hair.

Reports say Karikaala is a socio-fantasy in which she plays the female lead opposite Sundeep Kishan, with Ugandhar Muni directing.
