Atlee speaks of an Oscar dream for Raaka as Ram Lakshman clip goes viral
Atlee has reportedly said he wants to take Allu Arjun's Raaka to the Oscars, while a viral interview clip shows fight masters Ram Lakshman not recognising the big-budget project.
Raaka, the first film to bring together Allu Arjun and director Atlee, is the talk of social media this week for two very different reasons. Atlee has reportedly spoken about taking the film to the Oscars. At the same time, a short clip of fight masters Ram Lakshman failing to recognise the project has gone viral.
Atlee's remarks reportedly came at the success meet for Baththa, the Vijay Sethupathi film he produced and Balaji Tharaneetharan directed. Reports say the film opened in theatres on 1st October to a slow start, and strong word of mouth has since helped it do well. Speaking to the press, Atlee is said to have called an Oscar for Raaka a dream he is working hard towards. He added that if Raaka does not get there, his next film will.
He also reportedly praised composer Sai Abhyankkar, calling him a God's Child, and shared a story from the Raaka music sessions in London. The sessions were held at a studio where Hans Zimmer and Ludwig Goransson compose. According to reports, staff there did not recognise the pair at first and asked them to wait outside. Once Sai handed over his music notebook and the score was done, the room is said to have burst into applause.
Reaction online is split. Many fans believe Atlee is building something huge and can win an Oscar that makes Indian cinema proud. Others feel such bold claims before release are risky and could bring trolling if the film falls short.
Separately, Ram Lakshman were asked in an interview about the films they are working on. When the interviewer listed big projects such as Prabhas's Spirit, Chiranjeevi's Kaaka and Raaka, the duo reportedly looked confused and asked who was acting in Raaka. The moment has spread widely because the film is seen as one of the biggest upcoming projects in one report, reportedly made on a budget of around Rs 800 crore.
