Anupama Parameswaran says she would like to have a baby before she gets married, and that her family has never pushed her to marry. She spoke about it while promoting Crazy Kalyanam, which opens worldwide in theatres on October 16, in the Dasara season.

The film also stars Naresh, Tharun Bhascker and Akhil Uddemari of Raju Weds Rambai fame. Anupama plays Keerthi. Asked whether her character ends up married, she would only say fans have to watch the film to find out.

Keerthi believes marriage means two people living happily together, not a woman being turned into a domestic worker. Anupama said she feels the same way, which is why the trailer carries the line "If I cook, you should wash the dishes."

The title came late. The team first had another name in mind, but the whole film kept feeling crazy, so director Badhrappa settled on Crazy Kalyanam. She calls it a story full of fun and emotion.

She praised Akhil for the emotional honesty in his acting and for expressions that never look forced, qualities she said his character Uday needed. Uday supports the strict Keerthi and balances her, and that dynamic drives the conflict. Anupama speaks the Telangana dialect in the film. She did no workshop for it and instead copied the way the director spoke the lines. The shoot also showed her a Telangana wedding up close, which she said is different from Kerala weddings, where the food is largely vegetarian.

On picking roles, she said she wants each character to stand apart so no two of her films feel alike, and that money alone will not decide her choices. She is now working on several Tamil and Malayalam films, each very different from the others.
