Venkatesh and Trivikram's AK 47 postponed, film misses its October 9 date

Venkatesh's family entertainer Aadarsha Kutumbam AK 47, directed by Trivikram Srinivas, will not reach theatres on October 9 as planned. Producer Naga Vamsi confirmed the postponement at a press meet. Reports say the film has now been pushed back indefinitely.

The news comes only days after Naga Vamsi had publicly said that October 9 was the final release date. At the press meet, he said the delay was down to content-related issues. Reports say quality-related changes and further editing are still going on, and that post-production work has not been finished.

This is not the first time the date has moved. The film was reportedly planned first for a summer 2026 release, and reportedly missed an October 2 slot before October 9 was fixed. Both reports also point to talk that the film resembles Blast, and some on social media have called AK 47 a freemake of it. Reports say Trivikram reworked the script and screenplay and shot some scenes again after these claims came up.

Promotions had already started. The song Narayanamma reportedly got a mixed response, and excitement around the film seems to have dropped with each delay. Venkatesh fans, usually known for their patience, have been voicing their anger online. Much of that anger is aimed at Naga Vamsi for announcing a date the team could not keep.

The bigger worry is timing. Reports say the film could now miss the Dasara holidays, a festive window that usually brings families to theatres in big numbers. Venkatesh has seen what a festive slot can do before. Sankranthiki Vasthunam reportedly grossed around Rs 300 crore worldwide with the help of the Sankranti holidays. Other films that had planned around October 9 are also said to be facing complications.

The Venkatesh and Trivikram combination means a lot to fans, thanks to their earlier work together on Nuvvu Naaku Nachav and Malliswari. A new release date for AK 47 has not been announced yet.
