Mandaadi, the Tamil sports action drama led by Soori, is ready for its digital debut. Netflix will start streaming the film on October 8, and a Telugu version is part of the release, so fans in the Telugu states can watch it in their own language. The film is reportedly coming in Hindi as well.
The story follows Muthukaali, played by Soori, a celebrated former catamaran racer who returns to his coastal hometown after two decades away. Back home, a reckless young man ends up pulling him into the past he had left behind. Suhas reportedly shares the lead with Soori, and reports name Mathimaran Pugazhendhi as the director.
Mandaadi did very well in theatres. According to reports, it earned over Rs. 150 crore worldwide, and it held its ground after opening in the same window as Karthi's Sardaar 2. After a theatrical run like that, its arrival on streaming is one to watch.
Reports say Elred Kumar produced the film and GV Prakash Kumar composed the music. Mahima Nambiar and Sathyaraj are said to play key roles in the cast.
Mandaadi opens a busy Netflix week. The Malayalam film Pradhama Drishtya Kuttakkar and the Parineeti Chopra starrer Reporting Live both arrive on October 9, and reports say both will also be available to Telugu viewers in dubbed versions. For Telugu audiences, Mandaadi is the big name on the list, and its October 8 premiere kicks off the week.
