Raza Murad slams Bollywood stars for skipping Mushtaq Khan's funeral

Veteran actor Raza Murad is angry with the biggest names in Hindi cinema for staying away from the funeral of his friend and fellow actor Mushtaq Khan. Mushtaq Khan died on September 24 after battling cancer, and his last rites were held the following day. In an emotional video on his Instagram account, Raza said that not one star came to say a final goodbye.

Raza pointed out that many of Mushtaq's friends, colleagues and fellow actors did turn up, but there was no big face among them. He did not name anyone. Instead, he compared their absence with how eager stars are to show up elsewhere, saying that at the wedding of an industrialist's son they would even serve the guests "like they were waiters", and that they would surely appear if a political party wanted them there.

The veteran reminded everyone that Mushtaq had given 50 years of his life to the film industry. "And yet, you can't give 50 minutes to him," he said.

Raza added that Mushtaq built his name only through his work and never flattered anyone to get ahead. He said there was hardly a star Mushtaq had not worked with, yet nobody came to see him one last time. He also warned that name, fame and money can fade one day.

Those who attended the funeral included family members and colleagues such as Rajpal Yadav, Sanjay Mishra, Annu Kapoor, Rajat Bedi, Sulabha Arya, Manish Wadhwa, Shehzad Khan, Zaid Darbar and filmmaker Anees Bazmee. Reports say comedian Sunil Pal was also present.

Mushtaq Khan was reportedly 75. According to reports, he had been admitted to Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai after health complications, doctors diagnosed cancer during his stay, and his condition worsened despite treatment. Reports say he was laid to rest in Mumbai.
