KBC 18: Ujjwal Nikam says Kasab claimed he came to Mumbai to see Amitabh Bachchan

Kaun Banega Crorepati 18 hosted a special celebrity episode with actors Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi and public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam. The three were on the show to promote Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam. The biggest talking point of the night came from Nikam's memories of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks trial.

Nikam said Ajmal Kasab tried to mislead the authorities soon after his arrest. Kasab claimed he had been arrested on November 6, not during the 26/11 attacks. He also said he had come to Mumbai to see Amitabh Bachchan. Later he claimed that RAW had arrested him and that he was a minor, so his age had to be settled before the case could go ahead.

Bachchan reportedly had a sharp reply. He joked that if Kasab had really turned up at his house, he would never have left, because they would have shot him right there. The host also reportedly asked why it took nearly four years for Kasab to be executed. Nikam reportedly said that every accused person is presumed innocent until proven guilty and has the right to defend himself.

Nikam reportedly shared more from the courtroom. According to reports, Kasab once claimed he was being poisoned, but the substance was only rice powder, and a lab test proved it. He also reportedly spat at the camera while appearing by video conference before the Bombay High Court. Nikam reportedly said Kasab showed signs of repentance near the end, and called that his biggest punishment.

The episode had lighter moments too. Rajkummar reportedly revealed that he is a two-time national taekwondo champion. Wamiqa reportedly spoke about her father's wish that she work with Bachchan one day, and a letter she sent the host through Jaya Bachchan.

The trio reportedly won Rs 12.5 lakh after correctly naming Paramahansa Yogananda as one of the figures on the cover of The Beatles album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. The prize money is reportedly going to Manobal, a Jalgaon-based organisation that works for visually impaired children.
