R Madhavan names Vaazhthugal as the Tamil film he regrets doing
R Madhavan has named his 2007 Tamil film Vaazhthugal, directed by Seeman, as a career regret, and admitted he paid too little attention to his costumes and hair in his early years.
R Madhavan has named Vaazhthugal, his 2007 Tamil film with director Seeman, as the one project he regrets taking on. On a podcast with Madan Gowri, the actor said he should have been far more involved in how the film was made.
"I think, with all due respect, it would be Vaazhthugal. I didn't pay enough attention to the film. I should have put my foot down and been more involved in the process," he said.
Madhavan said he had trusted a big director and a good team to carry the film. "We assumed that if we did everything that was expected of us, the film would be a hit. But despite our efforts, it failed," he said. Bhavana played opposite him. After the film flopped, Pagalavan, a second film he and Seeman had planned together, never happened.
The 3 Idiots star also admitted a second regret from his early years, which was how he looked on screen. He said he did not give his costumes and hairstyling the attention they needed and should have been more professional about it. "Coming from a middle-class background, I never really thought about having people around me to take care of my costumes and hairstyling," he said.
Before films, Madhavan was a familiar television face in the 1990s through shows like Banegi Apni Baat. His Tamil film break came with Mani Ratnam's Alaipayuthey in 2000.
