R Madhavan calls Tamil comedy Modha Rathiri a brilliant film, hails the whole team

R Madhavan is the latest big name to fall for Modha Rathiri, the Tamil comedy directed by Raja Karuppasamy. The actor shared his thoughts on social media and did not hold back, calling it a "brilliant, brilliant film" and saying he enjoyed a Tamil film after a really long time.

Madhavan picked out the screenplay, the visual storytelling and the performances for special mention. He said he laughed hard after a long, long time and found himself cheering and clapping too. He ended his note with a standing ovation for the entire cast and crew, adding, "God bless you with more power." He reportedly also called it a must-watch, and the director and lead actress are said to have thanked him in the comments.

The film stars Rishikanth and Anishma Anilkumar in the lead roles. Its story centres on a wedding that goes off the rails, with the newly married couple going missing on their wedding night. What follows is a chain of comic confusion, hidden secrets and family fights, while the couple slowly grow closer. Reports say the action plays out almost entirely over one night against a village backdrop.

Rishikanth steps up as a hero for the first time, playing Maruthanayagam, while Anishma, who has been noticed for Sirai and Youth, plays Muthuselvi. Shelly Kishore and Chetan are also part of the cast. The technical team reportedly includes Surendran Paranjothi on camera, Ashok Arjunan on the edit and Bharath Sankar on music.

Modha Rathiri hit theatres on August 21 and is reportedly now streaming on Netflix. According to reports, Kamal Haasan, Dhanush and Silambarasan had already praised the film before Madhavan joined in.

Madhavan himself has a busy slate. He was recently seen in Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar: The Revenge, and in GDN, where he played industrialist GD Naidu. Next up, he reportedly has the Tamil film Adhirshtasaali and the bilingual Circle, and he is set to host Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai 2.0 for Zee5.
