Mani Ratnam wraps Inji Vellam shoot in under three months

Veteran filmmaker Mani Ratnam has completed the shoot of Inji Vellam, a romantic drama set in Kolkata with Vijay Sethupathi and Sai Pallavi in the lead roles.

Filming began on July 23, and the unit called it a wrap in less than three months. That pace stands out at a time when many younger directors let their shoots drag on, often pushing budgets up along the way. A schedule this tight needs careful planning, and the speed points to thorough preparation by the director's team.

Madras Talkies is producing Inji Vellam in association with Lyca Productions and India Talkies. AR Rahman is composing the music.

Fans of the director and the lead pair can look forward to Inji Vellam in theatres for Pongal 2027.
