Petitions against Saif Ali Khan due to his controversial statements
Saif Ali Khan attracted a storm of controversy towards himself after making questionable and provocative statements in his recent interview. We all are aware of the fact that Saif Ali Khan will be playing the role of the infamous Raavan in his upcoming film 'Adipurush' and this is quite difficult for several fans to fathom. When questioned about his role in Adipurush, Saif Ali Khan stated that "the benevolent and humane side of Ravan will be projected' through the film." This has offended many people and he also garnered a lot of hate and criticism for it. After a while, to do right by the hurt audience, Saif has publicly apologized for his statements and took back his words. Perhaps to make his apology sound appealing, he also stated that Lord Ram has always been the symbol of righteousness and strength for him.
The apology didn't seem to put actor Saif out of trouble since Himanshu Srivastava, a civil advocate has filed a petition against Saif Ali Khan for hurting religious sentiments. This religious petitioner claims to have devotion towards something which is known as 'Sanatan Dharma'. According to him, Lord Ram is considered a symbol of virtue and righteousness while Raavan is always a symbol of decadence and evil.
The petitioner also finds prime fault with Saif's allegations which contradicts the 'Sanatan Dharma' that read 'Lakshman had cut off the nose of Raavan's sister Surpanaka and Raavan kidnapping Sita was justified.'
When it comes to Adipurush, Prabhas is the star face of this film and this film has been on the buzz for a while now. Along with Saif's apparent controversy, the fact that Kiara Advani has been given the role of Sita has faced a lot of backlash and criticism by the audience.
