Divya Khosla backs Sunita Ahuja, slams Govinda over outing with Komal Rani

Actor Divya Khosla has waded into the row between Govinda and his wife Sunita Ahuja with a long post on social media. The note backs Sunita and takes Govinda to task for his recent appearances with co-star Komal Rani Swarnkar. Reports say Sunita later reshared it.

The trigger was Govinda's visit to Lalbaugcha Raja in Mumbai with Komal, which set off a wave of reactions online. Govinda reportedly said he went to the pandal with his co-star to seek blessings before a new project, and that any affair would be nobody else's business. Sunita then put out a video asking young people and women to support her, saying her house was falling apart for no reason.

Divya's post begins with the earlier generations of women who fought to move society away from a polygamous past, and says this episode made her question how far that progress has really come. She credits Sunita with staying loyal, raising the children and never building a career of her own, calling her "the woman behind your success". A woman is now pleading before the whole of society for help, she wrote, and everyone stays quiet.

Her sharpest lines target how the row has played out in public. Watching Govinda appear "every other day with his girlfriend" was atrocious for her, she wrote, and using religious sites to display an affair made it worse. She added that "plotting to call your wife a murderer is the last resort any spineless man could stoop to". That followed Komal's own statement accusing Sunita of trying to kill her husband, and saying nobody can break a home that is already broken.

Divya also wrote that at 58 Sunita deserves to walk into old age with her husband by her side, and asked what a lifetime of sacrifice was for if she still has to struggle for her basic needs as a wife. She closed by saying her heart goes out to Sunita. According to reports, she also told Govinda that he remains a legend but has lost her respect.

Sunita herself has tried to cool things down. In a recent interview she said she has nothing to say about Govinda or his co-star, that she can see he is happy and prays he stays that way, and that her focus is on work rather than fresh controversies. The couple have reportedly been married for four decades and have two children, Tina and Yash.
