Nani's action drama The Paradise has finished its theatrical run, and the final count marks it as a commercial disappointment.
Srikanth Odela's film opened big on the strength of its pre-release buzz. That start did not last. Poor word of mouth set in, and collections dropped fast after the first weekend.
Trade figures put the worldwide total at Rs 159.5 crore. India brought in about Rs 130 crore of that, and overseas markets added nearly Rs 30 crore.
The Hindi dubbed version had a better run. Reports say it closed at Rs 10.5 crore net in India against a target of about Rs 8 crore. That is a modest profit in a market where Nani is still building a following. It opened at over Rs 2 crore net before weak reviews slowed it down.
Kayadu Lohar and Raghav Juyal also star in the film.
