Mohanlal 'truly impressed' by Ajay Devgn's Drishyam: The Conclusion
Mohanlal, the original Georgekutty, has praised Ajay Devgn's Drishyam: The Conclusion for giving the story a befitting end, as the Hindi film crosses ₹479.80 crore worldwide.
Mohanlal, the original Georgekutty of the Malayalam Drishyam films, has watched Ajay Devgn's Drishyam: The Conclusion and says he is "truly impressed".
In a video, the actor said the Hindi film brings the much-loved story to a "befitting end". He congratulated director Abhishek Pathak, producer Kumar Mangat Pathak, Ajay Devgn and the whole cast and crew on a job well done.
His praise arrives while fans argue over which third chapter is better. The Malayalam Drishyam 3 reached theatres earlier this year, and many viewers have said they prefer the Hindi version.
The two films tell different stories. The Hindi series began in 2015 as a remake of Jeethu Joseph's Malayalam thriller, and its first two parts stayed close to the original. This one runs on a fresh script written only for the Hindi franchise. Speaking at FICCI Frames, Ajay Devgn said the team decided to make it the final chapter after seeing how the script, worked on for around two years, had shaped up.
Released on October 2, the film has collected ₹479.80 crore worldwide, with its India gross crossing ₹370.80 crore.
Ajay Devgn returns as Vijay Salgaonkar, with Tabu back as Meera Deshmukh and Shriya Saran as Nandini. Jaideep Ahlawat joins as SP Rajveer Singh Tomar, and his face-offs with Vijay have won him praise on social media. Rajat Kapoor, Prakash Raj and Ishita Dutta also feature.
