Hanuman Ansh made history in Hindi, but its Telugu dubbed version has crashed at the box office. Audiences in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have mostly stayed away.

The Hindi version has grossed more than Rs 400 crore worldwide. The makers and the trade expected that success to pull crowds in the Telugu states as well. That did not happen. Reports say the Telugu version collected only about Rs 1.80 crore net in its first two days.

The biggest problem is that many Telugu fans had already watched the film in Hindi. Few of them saw a reason to pay for it again in a theatre.

The campaign for the Telugu release also leaned on the film's huge Hindi numbers instead of proper local promotion. For Telugu ticket buyers, those headlines were not enough.
