Avengers: Endgame Encore crosses ₹24 crore in India, opens at No. 1 in China

The return of Avengers: Endgame is pulling fans back into theatres around the world. Avengers: Endgame Encore arrived on September 25 and reportedly opened at the top of the charts in both North America and China. Early estimates put its worldwide re-release total at $86 million, with $26 million from the domestic market and $60 million from overseas.

In India, the film reportedly started with ₹7.25 crore and held steady through the weekend, adding ₹7.65 crore and ₹7.55 crore. Monday brought the first real slowdown at ₹2.35 crore, its lowest single day so far. That takes the India net total to ₹24.80 crore.

The Encore version released here in four languages: English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Audiences mostly chose the original English version, which brought in the bulk of the money. The Tamil and Telugu versions reportedly added very little to the total.

In China, the film is said to have collected around $13.4 million over its three-day opening weekend. Sunday made up $2.2 million of that, a fall of almost 48 percent from Saturday. That makes it the third biggest re-release debut for a Hollywood film in the country. It sits behind Avatar at $21.2 million and the 2021 return of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone at $13.7 million, which it missed by a whisker. Reports say it is already the second highest-grossing Hollywood film ever in China, behind only Zootopia 2, and is expected to overtake it.

The re-release also gives fans something new to watch. Reports describe roughly four to five minutes of added footage, including an extended ending, new post-credits material and a sneak peek at Avengers: Doomsday. Anthony and Joe Russo direct Doomsday, which is set to reach theatres on December 18.
