Abhishek Bachchan says Shah Rukh Khan took personal responsibility for his career

Abhishek Bachchan says Shah Rukh Khan has stood behind his career more than once, and that includes their upcoming action thriller King. Speaking in a recent interview, Abhishek said SRK has "literally taken personal responsibility several times now, including in King as well."

He called Shah Rukh an elder brother, someone he deeply loves and respects. Their bond goes back to the days before Abhishek's debut, when he spent Sunday afternoons playing cricket with Uday Chopra, Hrithik Roshan and Sikandar Kher, all of them hoping to become actors. Shah Rukh joined the games now and then, and the group would sit and talk once play was over.

One of those talks gave Abhishek advice he still follows. He asked Shah Rukh which film was his favourite. The answer was the one he was working on right then, because if it was not his favourite, why make it at all? Abhishek said he treats his own work the same way and does not dwell on the past. Right now, his favourite is King.

Siddharth Anand directs the film, which Gauri Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment produces along with Siddharth and Mamta Anand's Marflix Pictures. King launches Suhana Khan on the big screen as a young protege trained by a veteran assassin, played by Shah Rukh. Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji, Abhay Verma, Jaideep Ahlawat and Arshad Warsi complete the cast, and reports say Kareena Kapoor will also appear.

King opens in theatres worldwide on December 24, 2026. Abhishek was last seen in Kaalidhar Laapata on ZEE5, Madhumita's Hindi remake of her own Tamil film KD A Karuppu Durai.
