Abhishek Bachchan knew no Ariana Grande songs but loved her concert

Abhishek Bachchan went to an Ariana Grande concert without knowing a single one of her songs, and came away a fan of her voice. The actor said his 14-year-old daughter Aaradhya took him and Aishwarya Rai to the show while the family was abroad on their summer break.

The story came up in a recent interview when Abhishek was asked which musicians he enjoys. His list leaned firmly towards Hindi film music. He called Kishore Kumar a personal favourite and spoke warmly about older composers and singers such as RD Burman, SD Burman, Kalyanji Anandji, Laxmikant Pyarelal and Bappi Lahiri.

At home, though, Aaradhya picks the playlist. Abhishek said his daughter listens to a lot of Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande. She has also found her way to 80s music and is now getting into Bon Jovi, Van Halen and Metallica. He called her taste "eclectic" and joked that this keeps him safe.

Looking back on the concert, he admitted he did not know even one song, but said "that woman could sing." He described the quality of her voice as unbelievable and said the huge fan following of today's young singers struck him just as much. He added that older listeners are often quick to wave off artists like Taylor Swift, but in his view they truly make great music.

On the work front, Abhishek was last seen in Riteish Deshmukh's Marathi film Raja Shivaji. He will next play the antagonist in Shah Rukh Khan's King, directed by Siddharth Anand. The cast also includes Suhana Khan, Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff and Arshad Warsi.

King is set to release on December 24, a week after Avengers: Doomsday and Dune 3. It will be Shah Rukh's first big screen outing since his three big 2023 hits, Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki.
