Ranveer Singh is an Indian actor and one of the leading stars of Hindi cinema. He is best known for the Sanjay Leela Bhansali period films Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat, the music drama Gully Boy and the spy thriller Dhurandhar. He has won five Filmfare Awards, including Best Actor for Bajirao Mastani. He started with a lead role in the romantic comedy Band Baaja Baaraat (2010), which won him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. Critics praised him as a sad thief in Lootera (2013), and his films with Bhansali, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela (2013), Bajirao Mastani (2015) and Padmaavat (2018), made him a leading man. In the last two he played Peshwa Bajirao I and Sultan Alauddin Khalji. The cop film Simmba (2018) was another hit, and he later brought that character into Rohit Shetty's Cop Universe. After a few uneven years, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani (2023) returned him to box office success, followed by Dhurandhar (2025) and Dhurandhar: The Revenge (2026), which both rank among the five top-earning Indian films. Ranveer moves easily between romance, comedy, history, sport and action. Gully Boy (2019) and the sports drama 83 (2021) each earned him another Filmfare Best Actor award, and he also contributed music to the Gully Boy soundtrack. Off screen, he is known for bold, colourful fashion and appears in many brand campaigns.
