Yami Gautam's family marks her first National Award with hugs and besan ka halwa

Yami Gautam has won her first National Film Award. She was named Best Actress at the 72nd National Film Awards for her role in the political action thriller Article 370. Her husband, filmmaker Aditya Dhar, also received a National Award as one of the film's producers. Photos of the couple have been shared widely online, but it is a warm celebration at home that has won fans over.

Yami's sister Surilie Gautam posted a YouTube vlog showing how the family reacted to the win. In it, Surilie walks into the house with flowers and a cup of besan ka halwa, the actress's favourite. She goes straight to her sister, congratulates her and wraps her in a hug. Then she lifts Yami off the ground and spins her around, and the actress cannot stop laughing.

Next, Yami's father arrives with a bouquet. He hands it to her, hugs her and kisses her on the forehead, and Yami holds him tight as she says, "Thank you, Papa." Her mother follows with a proud hug of her own. The family then feeds Yami the halwa as the celebration goes on. The moment was reportedly filmed by her brother, Ojas Gautam.

Before the family video came out, the actress had shared a note on Instagram about the win. She wrote that she felt deeply grateful, not only for the award but for everything that led her to it. She thanked the people who believed in her and pointed to the lessons, struggles and prayers along the way.

Article 370 released in 2024 and was reportedly directed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale. Yami plays Zooni Haksar, an intelligence officer who leads a secret operation during the events around the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. Priyamani, Arun Govil, Kiran Karmarkar and Skand Thakur are in the supporting cast. Reports say the film was produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Aditya Dhar and Lokesh Dhar, with Jio Studios and B62 Studios behind it.
