VVS Laxman Praises Muthiah Muralidaran As An Inspirational Role Model At '800' Pre-Release Event

Renowned off-spinner Muthiah Muralidaran, the only bowler in International Test cricket to achieve the milestone of 800 wickets, is set to have his life story portrayed in a grand sports-based film titled "800." Madhur Mittal, known for his role in "Slumdog Millionaire," will play the role of Muralidaran, and Mahima Nambiar will portray Madhimalar Ramamurthy, the cricketer's wife. Directed by MS Sripathy and co-written by Booker Prize (2022) laureate Shehan Karunatilaka, this movie is produced by Vivek Rangachari and Movie Train Motion Pictures, with Sivalenka Krishna Prasad, a prominent Tollywood producer, acquiring the All-India theatrical rights. The film is scheduled for release in theaters on October 6th.

The pre-release event for "800" took place today in Hyderabad, with former cricketer VVS Laxman as the chief guest. During the event, Laxman praised Muthiah Muralidaran, highlighting that his life serves as an inspiration beyond his on-field achievements. Laxman also reminisced about their friendship and collaboration in the world of cricket, particularly during their time with Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL.

Muthiah Muralidaran shared his memories of Laxman, dating back to their first match together in 1998, and how Laxman's exceptional cricketing skills left a lasting impression. He emphasized the importance of camaraderie in cricket and recounted a heartwarming anecdote about Laxman ensuring they had biryani during a flight.

In an interesting twist, Muralidaran also selected actor Venkatesh as the ideal leader for a celebrity cricket league team. He mentioned that Natural Star Nani, Jr NTR, and Prabhas would be ideal additions to the team.

Producer Sivalenka Krishna Prasad expressed his journey of becoming part of "800" and how the success of "Yashoda" influenced his decision to join the project. He thanked VVS Laxman for his presence and support during the event.

Actor Madhur Mittal shared his preparation for the role of Muralidaran, including extensive bowling practice and efforts to capture Muralidaran's distinctive style. He also emphasized that "800" is not just about cricket but also delves into the untold life story of Muralidaran.
