Sachin Tendulkar Launches '800' Biopic Trailer

The legendary off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan, the sole bowler in the history of International Test cricket to claim 800 wickets, is the subject of an authentic biopic titled '800.' Recently, Movie Train Motion Pictures released the trailer for the film, and the launch event took place in Mumbai, graced by none other than the 'God of Cricket,' Sachin Tendulkar.

Madhur Mittal, renowned for 'Slumdog Millionaire,' takes on the challenging role of Muralidharan in the movie, with Mahima Nambiar portraying Madhimalar Ramamurthy, the former cricketer's wife. The film is skillfully directed by MS Sripathy and co-written by Shehan Karunatilaka, the Booker Prize laureate of 2022.

Presented by senior Tollywood producer Sivalenka Krishna Prasad of Sridevi Movies, '800' is slated for release in October and will hit screens across the country in multiple languages.

During the event, Sachin Tendulkar, a dear friend of Muralitharan, praised the off-spinner's talent and simplicity. He shared stories of their friendship and highlighted Muralitharan's dedication to his craft. Sachin emphasized the significance of perseverance and determination in a cricketer's journey.

The film features a stellar ensemble cast, including Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Disha Patani, Pasupathy, and others in pivotal roles. Santhosh Narayanan has composed the film's captivating music.

Director MS Sripathy expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to tell Muralitharan's remarkable story and emphasized the film's message of breaking barriers and celebrating humanity.

Kollywood filmmaker Venkat Prabhu and 'Kabali' director Pa Ranjith also joined the event, sharing their thoughts on the film and Muralitharan's legacy. Actor Madhur Mittal spoke of the responsibility he felt in portraying the cricketing legend, while various personalities from the cricketing world and the film industry graced the occasion.
