Vivek Oberoi's Dubai home blends Indian art, an organic garden and family space

Vivek Oberoi's family home in Dubai mixes modern luxury with Indian heritage, from its art collection to the curry leaves growing in its backyard.

A landscaped garden and neat pathways lead up to the villa, which has room to park several cars. Contemporary furniture sits alongside traditional Indian decor, with European touches in the detailing and rich jewel tones set against a neutral backdrop.

An open-plan layout splits the living area into separate corners. A cosy seating nook near the entrance looks out on the garden, and the space beside it works as a formal drawing room. Colourful paintings break up the calm palette. "The art collections are mine. All desi artist, all Indian artist. The rest is all Priyanka," the actor said in an interview, crediting his wife, Priyanka Alva Oberoi, for the home's easy vintage feel.

Meals happen at a round dining table facing the backyard, in a room that also holds a television for family evenings. Next to it is a kitchen with a breakfast counter, set up like a live kitchen.

Greenery runs through every room. "We love plants. I am a constant gardener," Vivek said. Outdoors, he grows curry leaves, spices and vegetables in an organic garden, and a swimming pool sits in the backyard. "You don't realise you are in a desert," he added.

Priyanka chose the location, he explained, because she wanted a place where she could see water and hear birds every morning.

The actor, who has lived in Dubai for more than five years, likes to be home by 6:30 pm. Evenings go to his children and games of football, and mornings are slow ones in the backyard.
