Vijay Sethupathi's Baththa now plays in more than 700 cinemas across India after its makers added Mumbai, Delhi, Lucknow and Noida, with the Tamil film past Rs 15 crore net in eight days.

Vijay Sethupathi's Baththa is heading north. The makers have taken the film to more than 700 cinemas across India, adding Mumbai, Delhi, Lucknow and Noida to its run. They said the move came on public demand.

The Tamil film opened in theatres on October 1, 2026. Reports say it collected Rs 1.34 crore net in India on its eighth day, Thursday October 8, taking its domestic net total to Rs 15.42 crore and its India gross to Rs 17.85 crore. Its show count rose to 1,430 that day, up from 1,309 on Wednesday. Sunday, October 4, remains its best day so far at Rs 3.10 crore.

Sethupathi plays the title role, a feared local gangster used to people respecting and fearing him. His life turns when Sabari, an eight-year-old boy, accidentally locks him inside the restroom of an abandoned school.

Baththa also brings the actor back together with Atlee, after the two worked on Jawan. Star Studio18 and Atlee present the film, made with Cine1 Studios and A For Apple Studios. Alok Jain, Ajit Andhare, Murad Khetani and Priya Atlee are the producers.
