Venkatesh Maha unveils Attahaasam, a Kancharapalem tale set for Summer 2027

Director Venkatesh Maha is heading back to the world that made his name. His new film, titled Attahaasam, was announced today with a title reveal and a first look poster, and the makers say the story once again comes from the land of Kancharapalem. The film is lined up for a Summer 2027 release in theatres.

Maha first won attention with C/O Kancharapalem, a film admired for its grounded and lived-in storytelling. He followed it with Rao Bahadur, and Attahaasam continues his habit of finding drama and humour in the lives of ordinary people. The makers are calling it a real, rooted and authentic entertainer, while the title itself points to a lighter tone built around laughs.

The first look poster splits its frame between two pairs. In one, Venkatesh Maha appears in a police look alongside Sravanthi Peepakayala. In the other, Karthik Ratnam shares the space with Pavani Karanam. The four-character layout introduces the main faces without giving away anything about the plot.

Maha wears several hats on this project. He has written and directed Attahaasam and also plays one of the lead roles. Smaran Sai is composing the music. Going by the makers' own words, the film's central idea is that life is unpredictable, and sometimes the only thing left to do is laugh.

Chinta Varalaxmi presents the film, with Chinta Gopalakrishna Reddy and Rajashekar Reddy Chinta producing it. Chinta Vineesha Reddy is on board as co-producer, and the project is reportedly backed under the Sri Chakraas Entertainments banner.

With the title and first look now out, fans of Maha's earthy style have a new film to follow on the road to Summer 2027. The makers have kept the story under wraps for now.
