In a strategic move to promote the highly-anticipated film Salaar, producer Vijay Kiragandur has engaged with Bollywood media, shedding light on unique aspects of the project. Notably, Kiragandur revealed that the choice of December 22 for the film's release was based on astrological considerations.
Addressing the unexpected A (Adults Only) certification Salaar received, Kiragandur expressed initial expectations for a U/A rating to cater to a wider family audience. However, he disclosed that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) clarified rule changes, leading to the acceptance of the A certification. Kiragandur emphasized that Salaar earned its A rating due to intense action sequences, assuring the public that the film contains no vulgarity.
Moreover, he shared insights into the decision-making process, noting the CBFC's suggestions for U/A cuts. Director Prashanth Neel resisted these edits, emphasizing that toning down certain scenes would diminish the impact of character development, particularly that of the lead portraying a violent persona. Kiragandur underscored stakeholders' agreement with the A certification, citing the success of similarly rated films like Animal and the belief that an A rating could attract a broader audience to Salaar.
