Report: Bollywood Takes Top Spot As Indian Film Industry Earns Over 12,000 Crores In 2023

The year 2023 has been incredibly successful for the Indian film industry, with several blockbuster movies making waves at the box office. Films like Jawan, Pathaan, Animal, Gadar 2, Jailer, Salaar, and Leo have garnered stupendous collections, setting the cash registers on fire. According to a report by Ormax Media, the Indian film industry raked in a whopping 12,226 crores in the previous calendar year. This marks a 15% increase in collections compared to 2022, making it the best year for the Indian industry so far.

Of all the film industries in India, Hindi cinema made the highest contribution, exceeding 5,380 crores for the first time in history. Many critics and trade experts had written off Bollywood during the post-pandemic struggles, but it made a sensational comeback. Superstars like Shah Rukh Khan and Ranbir Kapoor have taken the lead, leading to the industry's remarkable resurgence. What's even more heartening is that even medium-budget films are once again captivating audiences and winning their hearts.
