Om: Chapter 1 with Dhanush and Mammootty reportedly eyes November 26 release
Om: Chapter 1, the action drama led by Dhanush with Mammootty, may now open on November 26, 2026, after moving off its October 16 date to avoid Jailer 2, though the makers have not confirmed it.
Om: Chapter 1, the big action drama starring Dhanush and Mammootty, may have found a new date. A Tamil Cinema Trade Guide listing shared by Sridhar Pillai names November 26, 2026, as its theatrical release. The makers have not announced this date yet, so for now it is only a possible slot and fans should wait for official word.
The film was first set to reach theatres on October 16, 2026. It was then pushed back so it would not clash with Rajinikanth's Jailer 2. Dhanush, who is also a producer on the project, reportedly confirmed the delay himself and said he also wanted to stay clear of Suriya's Scene, which is reportedly due on November 6, 2026.
The film's full title carries the subtitle Udhiram, The Blood Wood. Dhanush plays the lead, and the key cast includes Mammootty, Sai Pallavi, Sreeleela and Naseeruddin Shah. Sai Abhyankkar has composed both the songs and the background score. The makers plan it as the first part of a two-part franchise, so this release opens a bigger story.
Both leads arrive on a high. Mammootty reportedly won the Best Actor award at the 72nd National Film Awards, his fourth National Award in that category. Dhanush's Raayan reportedly won Best Tamil Film, which gave him his first National Award as a director, and he is said to have received a Special Mention for his work in Captain Miller. Reports say he later placed the medal around his mother Vijayalakshmi's neck and shared the photo with the words "All for that smile."
Dhanush has more lined up after this. He is reportedly set to team up with director Tamizharasan Pachamuthu for an actioner, tentatively called D56, aimed at Summer 2027, with Preity Mukundhan as co-lead and Vadivelu and SJ Suryah in key roles. He has also reportedly announced Thamizh Murugan, to be directed by Vetrimaaran.
