Naga Vamsi says Nelson Dilipkumar has agreed to direct a film for him
Jailer 2 distributor Naga Vamsi says Nelson Dilipkumar will make a film for his banner after finishing his projects with Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, and expects Jailer 2 to break even everywhere by Sunday.
Producer Naga Vamsi says director Nelson Dilipkumar has agreed to make a film with him once Nelson wraps up his upcoming projects with Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan.
Naga Vamsi, who distributes Jailer 2 in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, broke the news at a press meet. "I asked Nelson Dilipkumar to do a film for me, and he is doing one for us after completing the film with Rajinikanth sir and Kamal Haasan sir," he said.
He also talked about the risk his team took on the sequel. Many people warned them that the price paid for the rights was too high, he said. Then the collections from the evening shows on October 15, the day the film opened, convinced distributors they would earn their commission. He expects Jailer 2 to break even everywhere by this Sunday. He also believes it will beat the first part, and credited Nelson, composer Anirudh Ravichander and Rajinikanth for that.
Distributors rarely make such returns these days, Naga Vamsi added. That makes this run especially pleasing for his banner, whether it produces a film or distributes one.
The film has drawn praise from across the industry since release. Kamal Haasan congratulated Rajinikanth, Nelson, Anirudh and the team on X, and Nelson thanked him in reply. Dhanush called it a must watch, and Riteish Deshmukh posted that it was a blockbuster. Raghava Lawrence said he was watching it a second time with S J Suryah, who plays the antagonist.
