Mrunal Thakur says she has not signed a new film in close to nine months. The reason is the scripts she is being offered, not a shortage of them.

Speaking in a recent interview, the actress said offers are still coming in, but the stories being made do not speak to her, so she has chosen to step back for a while. "I don't want to question why I'm on set every day," she said, pointing out that a single film can keep her on set for 120 days.

What she wants now is work that gives her creative satisfaction as well as love and recognition. She said she is waiting for a meaningful role and hopes to make films that people still remember 30 years from now.

Her words also touched on the long-running buzz around Raaka, the large-scale sci-fi film Atlee is directing with Allu Arjun in the lead and Deepika Padukone in the cast. Mrunal's name has been tied to the project for a long time. Asked about it, she neither confirmed nor denied anything, and said any announcement would come first on her own social media. Raaka is the first time Allu Arjun and Atlee are working together.

On screen, she was most recently seen in Pooja Meri Jaan, which is streaming on ZEE5.
