Kriti Sanon to headline an out-and-out horror film for Maddock Films

Kriti Sanon will headline a large-scale horror film produced by Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films, reports say. Unlike the banner's popular horror-comedy universe, this one is planned as a straight horror story, with Kriti in the lead.

The film has not been officially announced yet. Its title, director and release date are still under wraps.

Horror is a surprising pick for her. Kriti has said in interviews that she does not enjoy watching horror films. A source close to the film said she wanted to test herself as an actor in a new genre, and this film came along at the right time.

She locked the project after Cocktail 2, where her performance won praise. Her earlier brush with Maddock's spooky side came in Bhediya, which mixed scares with comedy.

Her ties with Maddock go back years. Their films together include Raabta, Luka Chuppi, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya and Mimi, the film that won her the National Film Award for Best Actress.
