Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 opened in theatres to a heavy rush for tickets. Strong advance bookings did much of the work, and walk-in buyers added more on top.

Reports say the Nelson Dilipkumar film has set a new record for the most tickets a Tamil film has sold on BookMyShow in a single hour. That pushes Vijay's Leo (2023) out of first place. Leo hit its peak while bookings were open, but Jailer 2 reached its peak during its theatrical opening. Rajinikanth's Coolie (2025) and the first Jailer (2023) are also on that list.

Keep in mind what this record measures. It counts the sales inside one sixty-minute window. It is not the total number of tickets sold, and it is not the opening-day collection.

Tamil Nadu is the sequel's biggest market. Kerala and Karnataka come next, and both have added real weight to the bookings.

The test now is whether sales hold up after the first rush. One record hour shows how eager fans are, but steady daily sales and full theatres will decide how far the film goes.
