Interview: Venkatesh – Narappa Is My Most Challenging Role Till Date

Narappa is ready for a big OTT release this 20th July. On this occasion, the media caught up with Victory Venkatesh for a detailed interview.

Victory Venkatesh's Narappa is going to release on the 20th of this month on Amazon Prime Video. Ahead of the release, the actor has intensified the promotions of the film. Here are some snippets of his recent media interaction about Narappa.

What is your reaction about the movie releasing on OTT?

There are some things not in our power. Situations are as such now. I am an actor and I am untied after doing my film. I leave the rest to the producers. I know fans will feel the pain. They will be upset. But, they have been always understanding. I know they will understand.

What attracted you to remake Asuran?

I have to congratulate Vetrimaran, Dhanush, and Thanu. Asuran is one of the masterpieces. I have to confess I have not seen such an honest, raw, hard-hitting, emotional drama. So, I decided to remake it. We get such scripts very rare. When I see films of this kind, I immediately grab them. But re-making the world of Asuran was so hard.

What is your experience working for Narappa?

Narappa is the most fatigue film in my career. It is the most challenging character I have ever take part in. Action, emotions, I worked so hard and everything you see on screen is quite real. The character tested me big time. Generally, I am not a method actor but for this film, I worked hard. For the whole shoot, I stayed in the same costume even in my hotel room just to be in my role. I was quite tired after every emotional shot in the film.

How is it playing the role of Dhanush?

I am very happy with the response to the trailer and my role in the movie. There will be comparisons with the original but I feel we will not let down anyone. Dhanush is a great actor and can blend into any character. He proved to be one of the magnificent actors in the country. He did a tremendous job. I loved his performance but I also feel that once the Telugu audience sees me they will forget him.

How did the emotional sequences in the film come?

I will leave you in tears. You will watch that in the film.

How is the action series in Narappa?

I have done many action sequences in my career but nothing is more exhausting than the ones in Narappa. They used to be very intense and so tiring. Even though they are not physically demanding, they would leave me so exhausted because I am so emotionally involved.

You almost worked for three films at a time?

I have a nature to exit from the thing very fast, whatever I’m doing. I do lots of preparation to exit from the project or the role. I do not get so saturated. We shot Narappa at a stretch and I finished it even though I am very much involved. F3 is something in my segment and there is Drushyam 2 which I have got a gap and I finished it.

Whose choice was it to rope in Srikanth Addala.?

It was our choice only. I have already worked with Srikanth Addala. He is a good director. He is under pressure for the film and so is all the others. My working with everybody is smooth and there are no complications at all.

About Priyamani and Mani Sharma:

Priyamani is a great actress. We feel she is a good fit for the character and she did very well. Mani Sharma is always there. He is a busy music director. We have been working together for a long time. He did some massive scores. You will get to see it in the film.

Your next projects:

We have completed Drushyam 2. I am shooting for F3 which is a crazy comedy. There are some scripts but I am not a person who takes one at a time. They will happen when they should happen. There are times you will be busy with multiple projects and there are times no script will be approved and you sit idle. All these things happen. I do not think or plan anything too far.
