Indian 3 back on track as makers clear hurdles, release date to follow
The makers of Indian 3 said in an official statement that the film's hurdles are cleared, after talks led by Kamal Haasan, and that a release date will be announced soon.
Indian 3 is moving again. The makers put out an official statement today saying the problems around the film are behind them, and that a release date will be announced soon.
The film grew out of Indian 2. Director Shankar decided to split that sequel into two parts when its shoot was about half done. Indian 2 followed Kamal Haasan's iconic blockbuster Bharatheeyudu, and it crashed at the box office. Reports say the budget had already gone well past plans, Netflix then walked away from the digital deal for the third part, and Lyca Productions refused to spend any more.
Kamal Haasan opened talks with Shankar and the producers, and the issues have now been settled. Some of the shoot is still left, and post-production has not started yet.
Along with Kamal Haasan, the cast includes Kajal Aggarwal, SJ Suryah, Siddharth and Priya Bhavani Shankar. AR Rahman is composing the songs and the background score. The film is expected to release in 2027.
