Hanuman Ansh 2 to stay low budget as Telugu version clashes with AK 47
Hanuman Ansh 2 will reportedly keep a controlled budget like the first film, while the original's Telugu version is reportedly set for October 9, head to head with Adarsha Kutumbam AK 47.
Hanuman Ansh, the devotional biographical film made on a tiny budget, is reportedly getting a sequel that will follow the same careful formula. Producer Anupriya Nagar has reportedly said that Hanuman Ansh 2 will also be made on a controlled budget. In her view, the success of the first film does not by itself justify a much bigger spend.
According to reports, she said that spending ₹10 crore or ₹20 crore is no promise of a better result. She also reportedly felt that VFX or AI generated elements, added when the story does not need them, could take away the film's natural feel. The sequel is said to put story, characters, authenticity and the geography and mood of its period ahead of lavish production.
The numbers behind that thinking are striking. Hanuman Ansh released on August 7, and reports put its cost somewhere between ₹1.5 crore and ₹2 crore, with the producer reportedly clarifying that it did not reach ₹2 crore. Its worldwide gross is reported at around ₹400 crore. That makes it one of the clearest recent cases of a content driven film winning big without a huge budget.
The budget for part two is not final yet. The team will reportedly study what the story needs first, and is open to spending more if the sequel truly calls for scale. Fans may have to wait, though, as the director has reportedly committed to another project, which delays the sequel's production.
Meanwhile, the first film is heading to Telugu screens. Trivikram Srinivas had earlier announced that he acquired the Telugu rights and would present the film, but he reportedly backed out at the last minute. The Telugu rights are now said to be with Hombale Films, the banner behind KGF, Salaar and Kantara.
The Telugu version is reportedly slated for October 9, putting it in a direct clash with Trivikram Srinivas and Venkatesh's Adarsha Kutumbam AK 47. The two films belong to very different genres and are likely to draw different crowds, with Adarsha Kutumbam aimed at families, women and young viewers. Even so, a surprise blockbuster arriving head to head makes for an unexpected contest at the box office.
