Dilbakar Benerjee's Take On The Issues Faced By Arjun And Parineeti's 'Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar'

The director of 'Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar', Dibakar Benerjee gets candid about the conflicting reviews of his film.

Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra's second collaboration film, 'Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar', had a theatrical release in March 2021. Due to the disastrous situation of the COVID-19 second wave, the theatrical run of this film stopped abruptly. Recently, this film had an OTT release on Amazon Prime Video. In a recent interview with the Hindustan Times, the director of this film Dibakar Benerjee got candid and opened up about the conflicting reviews of his film before it was released on Amazon Prime Video.

Director Dilbakar stated, "I don't know what would have happened if Sandeep Aur Pinky had released theatrically in a non-Covid environment. That ship has sailed. What happens is that on theatrical, probably the gatekeepers and the opinion makers are not very democratically distributed. If 100 people saw it, and 10 articles came out and they weren't mixed, they were polarised; it was either loved or not loved at all, and out of the 100 people who watched the film, and 70-85 people are coming out and saying they liked it, that means that the gatekeepers are saying, and what the watchers are saying, have developed a lag. The gatekeepers no longer represent what watchers want to watch."

Setting this matter aside, the film crew of 'Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar' have revealed that the audience can expect a sequel to this dark-humor film.
