Ambika denies sister Radha's Rs 46 crore cheque fraud complaint

Veteran actress Ambika has hit back at her sister Radha, denying every charge in a police complaint that accuses her of trying to cheat Radha out of nearly Rs 46 crore. The two sisters were among the biggest South Indian screen stars of the 1980s, and their family feud has now reached the Greater Chennai Police Commissioner.

In her complaint, Radha alleged that Ambika and their brother, Mallikarjuna Kunjan Nair, took signed blank cheques from her home and tried to encash them. According to reports, she got a bank alert on September 17 saying five high-value cheques had been presented in Ambika's name. She reportedly asked for a stop payment at once, saying she owed her sister no money, and has sought strict criminal action against both siblings.

Speaking to the media, Ambika said there was "no truth" in the complaint and called the charge "deeply painful and completely absurd." She said Radha is so careful with her things that she even keeps her bags under number locks, so a theft like this could not happen. Ambika maintained that Radha's manager handed over five signed cheques as part of a formal settlement over ARS property shares and gold.

Ambika also spoke about ARS Gardens, saying it was built with her hard-earned money and that seeing its name removed and her shares denied pushed her towards legal action. She reportedly broke down in tears while talking about the board being changed without anyone telling her. She further claimed that a large amount of gold that belongs to her is still with Radha, and said she was the one who had been cheated.

Ambika added that the family had tried many times to settle the matter privately. Since legal proceedings are now underway, she said she would respect the law and avoid further public comment. Reports say the police have asked Radha to appear for an inquiry on September 24 with documents supporting her complaint, after which Ambika may also be called in for questioning.
