Storyline

Bharat Ram (Mahesh Babu), a brilliant Oxford graduate, gets acquainted that his father Raghava Rao, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, died from a stroke. Bharat lands in India and attends his father's funeral. Speculation swarms over who the succeeding CM will be. Meanwhile, Bharat tours throughout the city and gets thwarted by the turbulent atmosphere. As Bharat plans to depart to London, Varadarajulu (Prakash Raj) cancels his ticket, emphasizing that he is supposed to be the next CM. Bharat dissents and asks Varadarajulu to comply preferably, but he objects based on his condition. Bharat hesitantly consents and becomes CM. On his initial day, Bharat overwhelms the entire state by introducing stringent traffic laws. Again Bharat stuns his party members by instituting free English Medium government schools and forbidden private schools that were earning more revenue through education. People start to admire him. Subsequently, Bharat also attempts to uncover a shady politician's scam, with the aid of CBCID Aravind Krishna (Ajay). But Varadarajulu cautions Aravind obliquely that he would abduct his family if he wouldn't stop. Aravind panicked and closes the case. Later Varadarajulu summons Bharat to the party, where he apprehends that not only opponent party members but further his party members including Varadarajulu were included in the shady politician's scam. Eventually, Bharat comes across a critical case where many lives at a village are at stake, but he solves the issue and brings everyone to justice. On the whole, Bharath Ane Nenu is a highly captivating political drama which clicks from the word go. Credit should go to Mahesh for not only accepting such a script but leading from the front with his career-best performance. Mahesh’s fans will have a blast as the film will do exceptionally well in both the domestic and overseas markets. If you ignore the slightly predictable nature of the film, Bharath Ane Nenu ends up as a terrific summer watch which will break many records at the box office. Must watch.

BAN' is a mix of oldness (formulaic story) and newness (hero's character, his solutions as CM). It's also a mix of realism and cinematic fantasies. It's a mix of highpoints (Bharat's key scenes in which he heralds reforms) and lows (the usual machinations). A brilliant performance by Mahesh Babu!
