Playback Singer

Shankar Mahadevan is an Indian film Playback Singer and Music Composer. He mainly works in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada film industries. He made his debut with the Tamil film Minsara Kanavu in the year 1997. He composed the music first Telugu film was Choodalani Vundi in 1998. He has founded  Shankar Mahadevan Academy, wchich provides online Music lessons in Indian music for students worldwide.He was a software engineer by profession and worked with Oracle Corporation. Shankar's interest in music made him venture into the field of music. He got his first award as a playback singer in Chennai film music, collaborating with A. R. Rahman and winning a National Film Award. He was also a mentor on Zee TV's musical reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge in the year 2009. He has received four National Awards, six FilmFare Awards for his Best Playback Singer and Music Director.
