Story

The movie revolves around the life of a nineteen-year-old girl, Malti, which takes a turn when she is restrained to a horrendous acid attack. Unlike other victims, she decides to battle for justice and mend her life. In the course of the fight, the hardships she faces, the emotional trauma she undergoes forms the rest of the story.

Review

The film is powered by good intentions and progressive messaging, but the film loses its appeal because of a flawed screenplay.

Deepika plays her part perfectly as an acid attack victim, with a makeover that suits the plot. However, despite these powerful performances, it seems like the film is a blank post interval. Although Deepika portrays her part as the acid attack survivor, the results look more like a rehabilitation than a comprehensively developed story.

Deepika Padukone's performance and Meghna Gulzar's direction assure that Chhapaak is like a sprinkle that gives the audience shrouded with emotions, if not entirely drenched.

Notwithstanding the burden of heart, while watching, writer-director Meghna Gulzar and co-writer Atika Chohan supervene remarkably in not execute this a sob story, while nevermore for a minute overlooking that Malti's living is more difficult than most women.

Both Vikrant Massey and Madhurjeet Sarghi strike in very laudable performances. The story conveys a powerful message and is unquestionably a brave attempt, however, the edit looks irregular in places and specific parts of the narrative look somewhat stretched in the second half. The music tracks are certainly a plus point to the movie adding to the intensity of the mood.

Verdict

A must watch with the family to understand a woman's plight and struggle in restoring the lost integrity because of someone's wrongdoing.
