Anupam Kher is one of India's most renowned actors appearing in nearly 400 films and more than 100 plays. Even though Kher made his acting debut with the film "Aagman" in 1982. After a chilling performance as Dr. Dang the terrorist in the hit action film "Karma" in 1986. Kher won his first National Award for the film "Daddy" in 1989. After the success of "Daddy," he started receiving mainly serious roles. He also served as the chairman of the Indian Film Censor Board, when he was replaced by Sharmila Tagore. He is an alumnus of National School of Drama in 1978 batch and later became its director, between 2001 and 2004. Kher decided to show his comic side by delivering a hilarious performance in the romantic blockbuster "Lamhe" in 1991, for which he won his first Filmfare award in the Best Comedian. Kher went on to star in a number of commercial as well as off-beat Bollywood films playing villains, heroes, and comedians, making him one of India's most versatile actors. He has acted in many successful Bollywood films and has worked in several successful Punjabi, British, Hollywood, and Chinese films as well.
