Vijay Deverakonda has ruled out ticket price hikes for his films, as long as the decision stays in his hands. He made the promise at the pre-release event for Ranabaali, his period action drama with Rashmika Mandanna, which opens in theatres on October 16, 2026.

"There won't be any ticket hikes for my films from now on, as long as it's within my control. The only exception would be if I work with SS Rajamouli garu," the actor said.

He also spoke about the violence in Ranabaali. According to Vijay, the team cut back the violent scenes so they show less than the real atrocities behind the story. "Our intention is not to glorify violence but to show the reality," he said, and he asked audiences not to compare the film with a few recent releases that glorified violence.

The film is set in 19th-century South India. Vijay plays Ranabaali, a fearless warrior who turns against colonial rule after seeing his people suffer hunger and exploitation. Rashmika plays his wife, Jayamma. Together they fight the British commissioner Sir Theodore Hector by raiding colonial grain stocks and launching guerrilla attacks. Arnold Vosloo, known for The Mummy, plays the main villain.

Vijay has more films lined up. Rowdy Janardhana is an action drama directed by Ravi Kiran Kola, with Keerthy Suresh opposite him. He has also announced a film with Hi Nanna director Shouryuv, tentatively titled VDxShouryuv, with songs and background score by Hesham Abdul Wahab.
