Unni Mukundan reportedly replaces Mohanlal in Ajith's Dare Devil

Ajith Kumar's next film, Dare Devil, may have a new face in one of its key roles. The latest buzz is that Unni Mukundan, the actor known for Marco, will play a part that was first meant for Mohanlal. The makers have not confirmed the change yet.

Dare Devil brings Ajith back together with director Adhik Ravichandran after their gangster action drama Good Bad Ugly. It is reportedly Ajith's 64th film. The makers have confirmed that shooting will start in November 2026, and reports say the film should reach theatres in 2027.

The team first went to Mohanlal for the important role, and the veteran actor agreed to do it. He reportedly stepped away later because of remuneration issues. Online trackers now say Unni Mukundan will play the same character. Reports also say the makers are in talks with Kichcha Sudeepa and Upendra for character roles, which would make it a multi-starrer. None of this casting is official, and Kayadu Lohar is reportedly expected to play the female lead.

This time the team wants to reach a wider audience. Good Bad Ugly mostly worked for Ajith's fans, but Dare Devil is being planned to appeal to every section of the audience. The film is expected to be a family entertainer, and reports suggest it has several surprises in store for viewers.

Shalini Ajithkumar will produce the film, reportedly under the Brave Hearts Production banner, which is said to be her first film as a producer. Anirudh Ravichander will compose the music, working with Ajith again after Vedhalam and Vidaamuyarchi. Fans now wait for the makers to announce the full cast.
