The Vvaan opens to Sidharth Malhotra's best post-Covid pre-sales and mixed reviews

Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia's mythological fantasy The Vvaan is now in theatres, and the early signs point to a decent start. Directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra, the Hindi film was reportedly meant to release on August 28, 2026, before it was pushed to September 25. Its trailer and songs built steady buzz ahead of opening day.

First day pre-sales were healthy by the lead actor's standards. The film reportedly sold 1.17 lakh tickets and grossed around Rs 2.47 crore through advance bookings, roughly Rs 2.09 crore net. Reports say this is Sidharth's best day one pre-sales figure since the pandemic, ahead of Param Sundari at about Rs 2 crore, as well as Thank God and Yodha.

The release reportedly covers 7,010 shows across India. That count has been squeezed by the strong run of Hanuman Ansh, the Avengers: Endgame re-release and Mirzapur The Movie. Delhi and the NCR reportedly led advance sales, with Mumbai and Patna also contributing. Because the story is set around Chhath Puja, Bihar is said to be showing particular strength, especially at single screens.

Trade estimates reportedly put the opening day near Rs 7 crore net, which would match Param Sundari's start. A partial holiday in several states could bring in extra walk-in audiences. Still, the film depends heavily on word of mouth, and a positive reception could give its sales a big push.

That word of mouth is split so far. Viewers sharing first day reactions on X are divided. Some praised the visuals, the regional roots and the unusual folklore concept, while others compared it to a TV serial and criticised the acting and direction. Critics are mixed as well, with one review reportedly giving the film 2.5 stars, praising its story and visuals but calling the direction weak.

Manish Paul and Sunil Grover also appear in the film. The weekend will show whether the strong advance turns into lasting numbers at the box office.
